01 — The Short Version

The Dealer's Offer Is One Option

Most car buyers in Raipur take the loan arranged at the showroom because it is convenient. It is often fine, but it is rarely the only or cheapest option, and a quote from a second lender gives you something to negotiate with.

New-car loans typically finance 80 to 90 percent of the on-road price over up to seven years. Used-car loans finance a lower share of the car's valuation over a shorter period, and rates are higher because the asset is older. Commercial vehicle loans are assessed on the business's cash flow as well as the buyer's income.

Keep the total cost in view, not just the EMI. A longer tenure lowers the monthly payment but increases the total interest, and a car loses value faster than you repay the loan in the early years.

03 — Questions

Asked
Every Week

Straight answers to what people in Raipur ask us most.

How much car loan can I get?

For a new car, most lenders finance 80 to 90 percent of the on-road price, provided the EMI fits within the share of income they allow after your existing EMIs. For used cars the share is lower and depends on the car's age and valuation.

What documents do I need for a car loan?

KYC, income proof (recent salary slips and bank statements, or ITRs and business bank statements if self-employed), address proof and the vehicle's proforma invoice or, for a used car, its registration and valuation details.

Is it better to take the dealer's car loan?

Not necessarily. The dealer's lender may offer a scheme rate, but it can carry processing charges or bundled insurance that change the total cost. Comparing at least one outside offer is worth the half-hour it takes.

Can I get a loan for a used car bought from an individual?

Yes, several banks and NBFCs finance private-party used car purchases, subject to a valuation and the car's age at the end of the loan tenure.

Can I prepay my car loan?

Usually yes, but car loans often carry a prepayment or foreclosure charge, especially on fixed-rate loans. Check the sanction letter before you sign if you expect to close the loan early.
