Mudra loans are loans given under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), launched in April 2015 for non-corporate, non-farm small and micro enterprises: the kirana shop, the tailoring unit, the mobile repair counter, the small fabrication workshop, the tiffin service.
MUDRA (Micro Units Development & Refinance Agency) does not lend directly. It is a refinancing institution. The loans themselves are given by commercial banks, regional rural banks, small finance banks, cooperative banks, NBFCs and microfinance institutions, so in Raipur you apply at a lender's branch, or online on the Udyamimitra portal.
That means a Mudra loan is still a bank decision. The lender reads your business, your banking and your plan. Final sanction, rate and terms are decided by the lender.

MUDRA's own website carries this notice: "There are no agents or middleman engaged by MUDRA for availing of Mudra Loans. The borrowers are advised to keep away from persons posing as Agents/ facilitators of MUDRA/PMMY."
MGR WealthPro is not a MUDRA agent and does not charge for Mudra applications. You can apply directly at any bank. What we do, for our clients, is help put the file together, check whether Mudra or another business loan suits the need better, and explain each lender's terms. Never pay anyone to "get" a Mudra loan sanctioned.

For businesses at the very start: a first set of tools, an initial stock, a cart or a counter.
₹50,000 – ₹5 lakh
Loans above ₹50,000 and up to ₹5 lakh, for a business that is running and needs to grow: more stock, a machine, a second counter.
₹5 lakh – ₹10 lakh
Loans above ₹5 lakh and up to ₹10 lakh, for an established micro enterprise expanding its capacity.
₹10 lakh – ₹20 lakh
Loans above ₹10 lakh and up to ₹20 lakh, for entrepreneurs who have taken and successfully repaid an earlier loan under Tarun.
Mudra loans are meant for micro enterprises that usually have little to pledge, and they are generally given without collateral security. What gives lenders the comfort to do this is a credit guarantee: the Government of India has set up the Credit Guarantee Fund for Micro Units (CGFMU), managed by the National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company (NCGTC), under which eligible micro loans given without collateral or third-party guarantee can be covered against default.
The guarantee protects the lender, not the borrower. The loan is still a debt that must be repaid, and a default still damages your credit report. And a lender may still decline an application it does not believe can be repaid; a guarantee scheme does not oblige a bank to lend.
For micro and small enterprises that need more than a Mudra loan offers, the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE), set up by the Government of India and SIDBI, lets member lenders give collateral-free credit to eligible MSEs, with the trust guaranteeing a share of the loan. A loan under CGTMSE is usually what people mean when they ask for a "CGTMSE loan" or a "business loan without collateral".
The two are easily confused. CGFMU covers micro loans such as Mudra loans; CGTMSE covers credit to micro and small enterprises more broadly. Coverage limits, fees and eligibility for both are set by the trusts and change from time to time, so we check the current terms with the lender for each application rather than quote them here.
Each lender has its own checklist. These are what most ask for, so you can start gathering.
KYC
PAN and Aadhaar of the applicant and of each partner, recent photographs, and proof of residence.
Business
Udyam registration, GST registration or a shop and establishment licence, plus the business address proof (rent agreement or ownership papers).
Banking
Statements of the account the business runs through. Cash sales that never reach the bank are the most common reason a file looks weaker than the business is.
Plan
Quotations for machinery or equipment, and for Kishor and Tarun, a short business plan with projected sales and costs.
Returns
Income-tax returns for the last one to three years, where filed. They are not always mandatory for Shishu, but they help every application.
Category
SC/ST/OBC/minority certificate if applicable, where a lender's scheme asks for it.
A free conversation about the business, the amount and what it is for. Sometimes the right answer is a smaller first loan.
Mudra or a regular business loan? Which bank or NBFC suits a business of your type? We explain the options; you decide.
We help assemble the documents and the plan so that what the bank reads matches the business it visits.
You apply directly with the lender, at a branch or online. We help you follow up, and the lender disburses to your account.
A Mudra loan is a good fit for a micro business taking its first or second loan, needing up to ₹10 lakh (or up to ₹20 lakh under Tarun Plus after a repaid Tarun loan), with little to pledge. A regular business loan fits better when the business is larger, has several years of ITRs and GST returns, and needs more than the Mudra ceiling or a structure such as an overdraft or cash-credit limit.
If you own property, a loan against property can release a larger amount over a longer tenure. For a small personal need unrelated to the business, a personal loan is the simpler route; Mudra loans are for business use only.
Final sanction, rate and terms are decided by the lender. MGR WealthPro is not an agent of MUDRA and does not lend in its own name.
Straight answers to what people in Raipur ask us most.
Lenders generally ask for identity and address proof (PAN, Aadhaar), proof that the business exists or will exist (Udyam registration, GST registration or a shop licence), recent bank statements, and quotations for any machinery or equipment you plan to buy. For larger Kishor and Tarun loans, expect a short business plan or projections and, where available, ITRs. Each bank has its own checklist, so confirm it with the branch you apply to.
No. MUDRA itself states that it has engaged no agents or middlemen for Mudra loans, and asks borrowers to keep away from anyone posing as a MUDRA agent or facilitator. You can apply directly at any bank branch, small finance bank, NBFC or MFI, or online on the Udyamimitra portal. MGR WealthPro is not a MUDRA agent. We help our clients prepare their documents and compare a Mudra loan with other business-loan options, without charge.
Shishu covers loans up to ₹50,000; Kishor covers loans above ₹50,000 and up to ₹5 lakh; Tarun covers loans above ₹5 lakh and up to ₹10 lakh; and Tarun Plus covers loans above ₹10 lakh and up to ₹20 lakh for entrepreneurs who have taken and successfully repaid an earlier Tarun loan. These are scheme ceilings; the amount you get depends on the lender's assessment of your business.
Mudra loans are intended for micro enterprises and are generally given without collateral security. Lenders can cover these loans under a government credit guarantee fund for micro units, which is what makes collateral-free lending possible for them. Each lender still assesses your repayment capacity and decides the loan.
Yes, new and existing micro enterprises can apply. For a new business, a clear plan, quotations for equipment, and proof of your experience in the line of work make the application much stronger.
Mudra loans are for non-farm income-generating activities. Activities allied to agriculture, such as dairy, poultry or fisheries, can qualify. Crop loans are handled under separate agricultural credit schemes.
Mudra is a government scheme for micro enterprises with a ceiling of ₹20 lakh, generally without collateral. A regular business loan from a bank or NBFC has no such ceiling and can be secured or unsecured, but is assessed more strictly on turnover, ITRs and banking. For established businesses needing larger amounts, a regular business loan or loan against property usually fits better.
